KUWAIT: The inclusion of women in the Kuwaiti Army represents a valuable addition to the armed forces, said Kuwait’s Defense Minister, as the first group of female university graduates was commissioned as officers following an Amiri decree. The ceremony began with the reading of the Amiri decree, followed by the graduates taking the legal oath of office.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence after the commissioning ceremony, Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said the move reflects the military institution’s commitment to supporting women in carrying out their assigned duties effectively.
“The inclusion of women in the Kuwaiti Army represents a qualitative addition to the armed forces and reflects the military institution’s commitment to making use of qualified national competencies,” he said. The newly commissioned officers are part of the first intake of female university graduates to become officers in the Kuwaiti Army.
The minister congratulated the graduates and said receiving the Amiri trust was both an honor and a responsibility. “The confidence granted to them through the esteemed Amiri decree represents a great national responsibility and an important step in supporting Kuwaiti women within the military institution,” he said. He also encouraged the new officers to remain disciplined, committed and focused on developing their professional and academic skills. “Maintain discipline and sincerity, continue developing your scientific and practical skills, and spare no effort in performing your duty, serving the nation and defending its security and stability,” he added. — KUNA
