Actress Helen Mirren is showing her support for her Mobland co-star Tom Hardy after news broke that Hardy had been fired. The reason was supposed to be a dispute behind the scenes during the making of the shows.
Mirren recently posted a post on Instagram expressing her support for Hardy. She posted a picture of him and wrote a heartfelt message with it.
“Love you now and always,” Mirren wrote, signing off simply with the word “Helen.”
The post comes just days after news broke that Hardy may not be returning for the third season of the hit crime series. According to the outlet, a disagreement arose during production between Hardy, series co-creator Jez Butterworth, and producer David Glasser.
According to Variety magazine, sources on the set of the series said that Hardy often arrived late to the set and regularly made comments on scripts that Butterworth did not have time to work on. However, Hardy was dissatisfied with the fact that scripts sometimes arrived shortly before filming and that Butterworth was not always present on the set.
Although filming for the second season has wrapped, Hardy may have to film additional scenes in the coming weeks.
Hardy has spoken highly of his co-stars, Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
“Getting to watch them do what they’re good at and be a part of that experience is great,” he said. “They are amazing actors, extremely talented and have done so much great work. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with Pierce and Helen.”
