A delegation made up of legislators from all political parties will attend the Celeste Complex this Monday to say goodbye to the Uruguayan soccer team before his departure to Mexico to compete in the World Cup 2026.
The delegation will be led by the president of the House of Representatives, Rodrigo Goñiand will arrive at the complex around 3:00 p.m. to hold a brief meeting with the footballers, the coaching staff and authorities of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF).
As Goñi explained, the objective of the visit is “to convey the gratitude of the national representatives to the AUF, the coaching staff and the players for giving the Uruguayan people the opportunity to be in a Soccer World Cup again, with all that that means”.

The president of Deputies added that the classification for the tournament has relevance beyond sports because “its enormous social, cultural and economic significance for the country”.
During the activity, the legislators They will give recognition to each of the players and to the members of the coaching staff as a token of gratitude for representing Uruguay in the highest competition in world football.
The parliamentary delegation will also seek to highlight the role of the team as a symbol of unity, identity and pride for Uruguayans.
