Slobodna Dalmacija – The new flagship of the German premium manufacturer offers elegance and spaciousness designed as a refuge for the family

There are cars whose interior qualities say more than impressive technical data. Audi’s first large full-size SUV is one of them. At the heart of the new Audi Q9 is a spacious and exclusive interior – designed as a haven for family, business trips and long drives. Behind its doors – which open electrically for the first time – Audi’s new flagship offers up to seven seats, easy access to the third row and a large illuminated panoramic roof with the ability to change transparency. The new 4D audio system turns music into a fully immersive experience. The Audi Q9 will be presented in about two months, but one thing is already clear: the journey begins the moment you step inside.

Space is a key feature of the Q9 model – which is immediately apparent from the design of the seats. For maximum business class comfort, an optional six-seat configuration is available. In this version, the second row consists of two individually electrically adjustable seats with active ventilation in the central parts of the seat and backrest – a level of comfort typical for business class.

At the front, the lounge-like atmosphere is further enhanced by the ventilation and massage function in the sports seats. If you need to transport a large family, a seven-seat version is also available. All three seats in the second row can be equipped with child seats – a practical feature that makes everyday life much easier for parents. As standard, all seats are partially electrically adjustable. The seat backs of the third row can be individually folded electrically – practical for quickly adjusting the space between the seat and the luggage.

For the first time in Audi, all doors can be opened and closed electrically – a feature you’ll quickly get used to. Whether with the key, the myAudi app, the MMI system, the brake pedal or the seat belt buckle – opening and closing the doors is intuitive and easy. Thanks to the large opening angle, entry is always easy, even with heavy shopping bags or baby carriages. In addition, an extensive sensor system around the vehicle with obstacle detection stops the door if there is not enough space to open – which is especially useful in tight parking lots. This function can also increase traffic safety, for example by detecting cyclists or other approaching participants.

The panoramic roof creates a spacious and airy atmosphere. The standard panoramic roof in the Q9 model has an area of approximately 1.5 square meters and can be opened wide for a true open-air driving feeling. Those who want protection from the sun can darken one or nine individually controllable segments of laminated safety glass at the touch of a button, effectively reducing glare. Serial laminated glass with a special coating reflects infrared radiation and blocks more than 99.5 percent of UV rays. Classic eyeshadows are no longer needed. When the vehicle is parked, the roof automatically becomes opaque to prevent outside view. After restarting the vehicle, the last selected setting is automatically restored. The highest level of equipment also includes lighting: 84 LEDs illuminate the roof in one of 30 colors coordinated with the selected ambient lighting.

Lighting shapes the atmosphere inside the new SUV. In every Q9 model, contour lighting on the dashboard and doors emphasize the width of the interior. Full and ambient lighting is standard for the front doors, while it is available as an option for the rear doors. Indirect lighting under the Audi MMI panoramic screen and in the center console creates a subtle floating effect. The dynamic interaction light (IAL) in the ambient light plus package is a continuous LED strip that stretches across the entire width of the interior and supports communication between passengers and the vehicle.

Audi optimally combines the interaction light with the upgraded Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 4D sound. Through the “experiences” function, the IAL synchronizes with the rhythm of the music, creating an immersive experience by matching the colors with the visual identity of the background music.

The system builds on the previous 3D audio system with speakers in the headrests, which enable private phone calls, navigation instructions and surround sound without disturbing other passengers. Actuators in the front seats add an extra sensory dimension to the experience, making music not just something you hear, but something you physically feel.

Audi has especially carefully chosen a harmonious and high-quality palette of materials and colors. For the Q9, the brand is expanding its interior offering with new fabrics and wood decor. Premium wool upholstery such as alpaca fiber, Dinamica microfiber, a combination of leather and artificial leather, and fine Nappa leather contribute to the elegant character of the Q9 model. The interior is further enhanced by decorative elements made of natural ash with a fine structure in a silk-beige shade, natural lime structure or carbon weave with basalt gray details. Color-coordinated trim elements throughout the cabin, with reduced use of glossy surfaces in favor of matte and textured materials, ensure a premium aesthetic and reduce the visibility of fingerprints. New colors such as tamarind brown and stone beige further expand the choice – ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for every taste. The result is an interior that exudes peace and refinement.

Audi’s largest SUV offers generous and carefully integrated storage solutions. The redesigned and versatile center console provides not only flexibility, but also modern charging options, including two wireless charging pads according to the Qi2.2 standard and USB-C ports with a power of up to 100 W. The wireless dual charger enables fast charging of two smartphones at the same time. A new aluminum guide system integrated into the sides of the luggage compartment allows cargo to be secured in three dimensions using sliding hooks and adjustable anchors, leaving the floor free for larger pieces of luggage. Audi supplies roof racks for the standard longitudinal roof racks as standard with every new Q9.

Audi will reveal the full potential of the Q9 model at its world premiere in the summer of 2026.
