Portuguese football giant Benfica revealed that Real Madrid will have to pay 15 million euros in compensation if they want to hire Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.
“The Special One” has one more year of contract with the Lisbon club, and his “freedom” will cost the “Kraljevski club” 15 million euros. Previous media reports suggested that Real could pay around three million euros to Benfica’s account.
“In the event that this scenario occurs, the appointment will be made with a fee of 15 million euros, which corresponds to the termination clause in the current sporting contract,” Benfica said in a statement.
Real president Florentino Perez has vowed to bring Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, 13 years after he left the club.
Mourinho has already appeared in a video on Perez’s Instagram account, confirming that he is ready to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
