The municipal and health authorities confirmed this morning that of the 17 people who had been transferred to hospitals after the run over registered last night in the downtown Cabo San Lucasduring the celebrations for the victory of the Mexican National Team in the 2026 World Cup, only seven of them remained hospitalized: three in the hospital clinic. Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS)two at Saint Luke’s and two at AMC.
The other ten people, according to hospital reports, were discharged after checking and treating minor injuries. There are two people left in serious conditionone of them the driver.
The incident occurred on Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard, the main tourist corridor in Cabo San Lucas, where hundreds of residents and visitors gathered to celebrate Mexico’s 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
According to the images and videos that have been circulating since last night, it is noted that the celebrations resulted in a massive concentration of people where hundreds of fans were located on the road and at the same time units that circulated with Mexican flags.
At different times, the fans approached the moving vehicles to swing them and throw liquids at them until they were allowed to pass. Some drivers remained in place moving slowly.
Suddenly the situation changed when fans also jumped on the black car involved in the accident, and surrounded by people, it accelerated, hitting other people.
After the collision with an object, the driver was taken out of the unit and beaten. A woman and a minor also left the unit, who looked disconcerted.
The situation has generated various reactions on social networks and in chambers and business organizations in the entity, who have spoken out in favor of maintaining civility during the World Cup days and report that such an event had not been recorded in that tourist destination.
