Partizan’s soccer coach Saša Ilić said that the black and whites, like every season, enter the season with the goal of winning trophies, and that the team needs four reinforcements in order to be competitive in Europe and the domestic championship.
– I’ve been here for about ten days, every year brings something new to Partizan. People should know that Partizan is generally a team that strives for the best. The fact is that we haven’t won a single trophy for years, but Partizan is a very big club and the ambitions are the same every year, now we’ll see how realistic they are – Ilić said in an address to journalists, Mozartsport reported.
The Partizan footballers travel to Pohorje, Slovenia, on Saturday, where the main part of the preparations awaits them, and the black and whites will play their first control match on Monday, June 29, against the Bulgarian CSKA 1948.
Partizan has brought in four players in the transfer window so far – Milan Aleksić, Aleksa Zeković, Caki Traore and Erik Kojzek.
– They will strengthen the competition, these are young guys, we have a young team, they will do well, the time is ahead of them, I hope they will not be injured. Aleksić had a break of a couple of months without a competitive match, but he will surely bring us quality – he added Ilić.
Ilić then spoke about the number of reinforcements he expects by the start of the season.
– We need four more if we want to be competitive in Europe and our championship. We are also aware that Partizan lives on sales, so we hope that these two things will coincide – he pointed out.
Ilić added that the black and whites are close to bringing in the Brazilian forward Zeo, who plays for Turkey’s Goctepe.
– We are in negotiations, we hope that it will be completed in the shortest possible time. We hope to work on some areas defensively. Let’s go step by step first, to finish the work with the striker, and then make decisions about players who could bring a certain quality – said the former captain of Partizan.
Partizan the competition in Europe will start from the second round of qualification for the League of Conferences, where the opponent will be the winner of the double match between Luxembourg’s Uno Strassen and La Fiorita from San Marino.
– I watched the draw and in general, if we look at it at that moment, it was one of the most desirable opponents. In football, anything is possible, every country plays its own football, if we are not serious we can have problems. It is certain that we will see off the matches that they play between us and we will be ready for the second round of qualification for the Conference League – said Ilić.
