SAN MARINO – Integrating health and educational skills to accompany the child’s development from the first months of life and support parenting. This is the objective of the “Nido per Crescere” project, presented this morning at the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture and the result of collaboration between the Paediatrics UOC of the State Hospital and the Nursery.
The initiative, sponsored by the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture and that for Health and Social Security, is based on scientific evidence that recognizes play as a central element for neurodevelopment and early learning. An approach that also fits within the framework of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the international document Nurturing Care Framework.
The project includes group meetings aimed at parents and children between 8 and 9 months, with play-workshop activities designed to encourage relationships, autonomy and harmonious development. The appointments will be conducted jointly by healthcare personnel from the Preventive and Social Pediatrics Clinic – including the doctor Elisabetta Muccioli and the nurses Marta Gasperoni, Erica Felici and Lucia Gasperoni – together with the pedagogical coordinator Elisa Gasperoni, the contact person for the Documentation Center Valentina Capicchioni and two educators from the nursery school.
The activities will take place at the State Hospital and will be included in the already active parenting support programs. The launch is scheduled for April 25, 2026, with weekly meetings on Saturday mornings.
“The project transforms the concept of care into a global approach that brings health and learning together,” declared the Secretary of State for Education and Culture Teodoro Lonferniniunderlining how the nursery becomes “a place of educational excellence where the family rediscovers its active role”.
The interim Secretary of State for Health is along the same lines Marco Gattiwho defined the initiative as “a virtuous example of integration between the health and education system”, capable of offering families “concrete support for the health and early development of the child”.
For the ISS General Director Claudio Vagninithe project represents “the last piece of a fruitful collaboration between ISS and the Secretariat of State for Education”, with particular attention to the value of play and support for the family.
An initiative that strengthens the San Marino model of integrated educational and health welfare, focusing on the first months of life as a decisive phase for the child’s growth and family well-being.
