The former deputy of the Democratic Party, Ervin Salianji, reacted strongly to the developments in the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party, considering the current situation as a serious political failure.
Salianji says that the way the internal election process is being managed in DP shows, according to him, a lack of responsibility and degradation of democratic standards within the political force. He accuses the current leaders of using the loyalty of members and creating a moral pressure on the base of the party.
According to him, any attempt to avoid internal competition and political responsibility only further weakens the party and alienates it from the citizens.

The miserable standard of how Berisha is treating the Democratic Party expresses the deep lack of historical responsibility for the sacrifices of the Democrats who have been in the opposition for 13 years.

He and the circle that slanders him abuses the loyalty and values of the democrats, putting them in front of a moral pressure: to remain silent “out of respect for age”, to remain silent in the face of “the honors that have been given to him”, to remain silent before the extinction of the Democratic Party due to his connection with it.
Who is responsible for the deepest loss since 1997, on May 11, 2025? Who made the lists? Who designed the banal program as if it were 1995? Who ran the campaign?
And the most important question: how will the Democratic Party win?
Even the most loyal democrats know that with Sali Berisha and this leadership, it will never be won.
Every day that he remains at the head of the Democratic Party of Albania is a loss for the opposition and for Albania.
Time works only for change. Sali Berisha can never represent him.
He is worn out, isolated, under investigation, unable to unite the opposition.
We cannot talk about change in Albania, rejecting change in DP. We cannot ask for the vote of the Albanians like this.
The Democratic Party can never be strong without competition, without representation, without responsibility.
Any attempt to avoid these weakens the Democratic Party and distances it from the citizens.
The Democratic Party cannot be an individual party, it does not deserve to be! It must return to a party of masses and power. It is the property of the democrats and the hope of thousands of Albanians who have been waiting for the rotation for years!
PD does not deserve to die because of its leader.
