MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Yaroslavl Oblast of Russia has become one of the largest purchasers of butter on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.
In January-May 2026, exchange participants from Yaroslavl Oblast bought 740 tonnes of butter on BUCE. This allowed the region to rise to third place among the subjects of the Central Federal District in terms of purchases of this commodity and to sixth place in Russia overall. As for the top five largest regional importers of Belarusian butter, the list includes Smolensk Oblast, Moscow Oblast , Omsk Oblast, Leningrad Oblast, and Stavropol Territory. This was reported by Irina Kravchenya, a leading specialist of BUCE’s Foreign Economic Activity Department, during a webinar for small and medium-sized businesses of Yaroslavl Oblast.
The event was organized within the framework of a cooperation agreement signed in April 2025 by BUCE, the Investment and Industry Ministry of Yaroslavl Oblast, and the regional export center. The purpose of the document is to consolidate efforts to promote the development of exchange trade between Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast of Russia.
“Currently, 39 enterprises from Yaroslavl Oblast are accredited on the exchange, four of which began participating in trading only this year. In addition to butter, frozen beef and beef semi-finished products have been supplied to the region through the exchange mechanism. No import transactions of products from Yaroslavl manufacturers into Belarus were registered over the five-month period,” Irina Kravchenya noted.
During the webinar, the possibilities of integrating BUCE’s tools into the sales and procurement activities of small and medium-sized enterprises of the Yaroslavl Oblast were examined in detail, and answers were provided to frequently asked questions regarding the work of Russian companies on the exchange platform.
Following the webinar, an agreement was reached to make joint informational and training events a regular practice to promote the exchange mechanism among the business community of Yaroslavl Oblast.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market.
