US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the use of the straits as “the equivalent of an economic nuclear weapon” that the Revolutionary Guard is trying to use against the world, adding, “They are bragging about it.”
The Revolutionary Guard stressed that managing and monitoring shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz represents a “strategic and inevitable choice,” in reference to the importance of the vital shipping lane for the movement of oil and global trade.
This statement comes in light of the escalation of regional tensions and the exchange of warning messages between various parties in the region.
