This year, May 9 – Victory Day – falls on a Saturday, so residents of Tajikistan will receive an additional day off, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus.
They noted that for citizens with a five-day working week, the weekend will last from May 9 to May 11. For those who work on a six-day schedule, the weekend will be May 9 and 10.

By order of the President of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic allocates one-time financial incentives to participants and veterans of the Second World War, and home front workers. Local government bodies also encourage veterans at the expense of local budgets.
According to Asia-Plus, as of April 21, 2026 in Tajikistan There were only 10 participants in the Great Patriotic War left 1941–1945. Yesterday, after the death of 100-year-old Rajab Ismonov in Gisar, only 9 veterans remained in the country.
As of May last year, there were 17 veterans in the country.
