Re cold: meteorologists warn of rain in the next few hours and possible cold wave next week

“In the short term, between Thursday and Friday, we will have the entry of a cold front”announced meteorologist Mario Bidegain in dialogue with The Observer.

This system will cause rains and drizzles throughout the country from the late hours of Thursday until Friday morning. In Montevideo, according to estimates, there will be accumulations between 15 and 20 millimeters of rainwhile in the eastern zone the records could reach 50 millimeters.

“Then it starts to get better on Friday afternoon”said Bidegain, who added that around those hours periods of sunshine will appear again.

The situation will cause a drop in temperatures, although initially it will be moderate. For the weekend they are expected maximums of around 13 °C and minimums of between 5 °C and 6 °C.

However, the most intense cold episode would arrive a few days later. “The most important cold of the month” It would be registered between Tuesday and Thursday of next week. “We may be facing a small cold wave”said the meteorologist.

consulted by The Observerthe meteorologist Nubel Cisneros agreed that weather conditions will begin to deteriorate on Thursday. According to him, the rainfall will continue until the early hours of friday.

“That day dawns with rain and then it improves quickly. Then it gets cold again”he stated. In addition, he announced that the thermal decrease will persist during the weekend and that next week a period of more intense cold could begin.

“Once again we will have very low temperatures”assured Cisneros, who did not rule out that the situation constitutes a cold snap in the region. According to his forecast, the most rigorous period would extend between Tuesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 25.

For his part, the meteorologist Guillermo Ramis He made a similar projection during an interview with Informativo Sarandí.

Ramis also foresees rains between Thursday and Fridayfollowed by a marked drop in temperatures.

In reference to next week, he was forceful: “It’s going to be really cold”said the specialist.

He even appealed to humor to summarize the situation: “Shelter the chicks well”he joked.

As explained, the cooling will be associated with the entry of a high pressure systema situation that could also favor the occurrence of frost in different areas of the country.
