The president Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova today in Bratislava had a face-to-face meeting with the president of the National Council of Slovakia, Richard Rashiat which the joint commitment to deepen the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries was confirmed.
The meeting highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as an important instrument for exchanging experiences, strengthening trust and promoting democratic institutions.
Referring to her parliamentary experience, Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized the role of parliaments as “schools of democracy”, which ensure institutional continuity, accountability and direct connection with citizens.
The President also welcomed the historical role of the Slovak Parliamentary Institute, which together with the Czech partners made a significant contribution to the formation and development of the Parliamentary Institute within the framework of the Macedonian Assembly.
For his part, Rashi reiterated Slovakia’s support for Macedonian European integration, stressing that the process of enlargement of the European Union should remain based on merit and equal criteria for all candidate countries.
Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized that the state is technically ready for the opening of accession negotiations and expressed the expectation that the process will be credible, predictable and free from bilateral conditions.
The interlocutors assessed that the relations between Macedonia and Slovakia are developing in a positive direction, without open questions and with increasingly intensive cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.
