The Breton island île de Riec’h has come onto the market – comprising six hectares with five beaches and two houses off the coast of the Morbihan département.
Most of the small island is green space with a wide variety of wildlife and biodiversity, but there are two houses on the island – a main house of 140 square metres and a smaller caretaker’s home.
The real estate agent warns that both dwellings have an energy rating of G, the least energy efficient.
The island also has five beaches of “varying character” including several long sandy beaches. It is close to the tiny island of Ile de Saint-Cado, which is famous for its ‘little house with blue shutters’ that appears in much Breton art and photography.
Practicalities
The island is accessed by boat, and there is a landing jetty already constructed in front of the house.
It takes roughly three hours to get from the island to the nearest train station – Auray – but from there it is a two-and-a-half hour train ride to Paris.
The house has five bedrooms and is decorated in traditional French style, in excellent condition.
