The ceremony, which took place at the Presidency of the Republic, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sidati.

In a statement to the press, following his meeting with the president of the Republic, the new Cuban ambassador reiterated his country’s firm position of principle on the just cause of the Sahrawi people.

He talked about the cooperation between Cuba and the Sahrawi Republic in the field of health and education, stressing the presence of a Cuban medical mission in the Sahrawi Refugee Camps and another in the educational field illustrates the extent of Cuba’s aid to the Sahrawi people.

Ambassador Héctor IGARZA CABRERA had earlier handed over a copy of the Credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sidati, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was attended by Hameida Hafed, Secretary General of the Ministry, and Musa Blal, Director of the Africa and African Union Department.

Cuba and the SADR established diplomatic relations in January 1980, and bilateral cooperation includes areas such as health and education.
