Ulaanbaatar,
April 17, 2026 /MONTSAME/. President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa will pay a state
visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from April 20 to 23, 2026, at the invitation of
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The
visit will mark the first state visit by a Mongolian president to Kazakhstan in
19 years. During the visit, the two heads of state will hold tête-à-tête,
official talks, and brief the media.
The
sides are expected to review more than three decades of bilateral relations,
discuss expanding their Strategic Partnership, strengthening economic
cooperation, and deepening cooperation at the regional and international levels.
Governmental
and inter-agency documents aimed at broadening bilateral relations and cooperation
are also expected to be signed during the visit. Businesses from both countries
will hold a business forum, while artists from Mongolian Grand Theatre of National
Art will stage the honorary concert “Beautiful Country Mongolia” in Astana for
the first time.
President
Khurelsukh will also attend the Regional Ecological Summit in
Astana. President Tokayev paid a state visit to Mongolia in 2024 at the
invitation of President Khurelsukh, giving impetus to deeper bilateral relations
and cooperation across all sectors.
During that
visit, the two sides announced the elevation of traditional friendly relations
to a Strategic Partnership, making Kazakhstan Mongolia’s first Strategic
Partner in Central Asia.
Mongolia and
Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on January 22, 1992. Previous
Mongolian presidential state visits to Kazakhstan were made by President Bagabandi
Natsag in 1998 and President Enkhbayar Nambar in 2007, reported the
Presidential Office.
