Prentmet Oddi has bought the bankruptcy estate of Ísafoldarprintsmidja. The combined company is better equipped to meet growing foreign competition and a changing operating environment.
This is stated in the announcement.
Ísafoldar printing house was founded on June 16, 1877 and was therefore the oldest operating printing house in the country. Prentmet was founded in 1992 and Oddi in 1943, so the combined history of the companies is over 266 years.
“Today, Prentmet Odda employs around 70 professionals, and the company offers the greatest breadth in Iceland in the production of general printed work, books and packaging. The company also works with many of the most powerful packaging manufacturers in Europe and provides many of the country’s most demanding companies with complete solutions in the field of packaging.
Prentmet was founded by the couple Guðmund Ragnar and Ingibjörg Steinunna, who still own and run the company today under the banner of Prentmet Odda after taking over Odda in 2019. Their son, Arnaldur Þór, manages the import part along with the company’s sales and finance department,” the announcement further states.
