It is the most portrayed area of the capital: the Colonial City. This time, however, the monuments will not be the objective of the photography contest devised by the Association of Owners and Residents of Ciudad Colonial, together with entities that support it, but the human being who lives there. That’s why they call it a “citizen photography contest.”
Chronicles of life in the Colonial City
Raquel Casares enthusiastically sends me the details of this innovative contest that has been titled: “Inhabited History: Chronicles of life in the Colonial City”.
Its general objective is to “promote a citizen perspective on the Colonial City as living heritage, highlighting the value of their community and their daily life as an essential part of their cultural identity and their tourist attraction”.
Among the specific objectives, they try to “value daily life, jobs, meetings and the social dynamics that give life to heritage.” This is what the organizers have decided: APRECC, Imagen 83, Image Center, Tourist Cluster, aecid cultura Santo Domingo.
Who can participate?
It is an open competition, aimed mainly at photographers, residents, students and visitors. Are you a regular at the CC and do you like photography? Go ahead and take those photos that show life in the sector.
Walk leisurely through its streets, either between monuments or in relaxing corners to discover the daily rhythm of the Area, with its usual people or with passing tourists.
Emphasize the transmission of authenticity
“The emphasis will be on the ability of the images to convey the authenticity and vitality of the Colonial Cityshowing how historical heritage coexists with contemporary life and with the experience of those who visit it.”
