Journalist Aliya Khamidullina met with Shakhzoda Mansurova in ancient Samarkand, where the girl has been living with her family for recent years.
Why her? Because Shakhzoda is one of the few Tajik bloggers who openly raises topics that society prefers to keep silent. For many of her subscribers, she has become a person who can speak out and be heard.
In an interview with Aliya’s author’s project – “Close-up. People of Tajikistan” – the heroine explained why she began to raise issues of gambling addiction, fraud, violence and other pressing social problems.
She shared why she left dentistry for blogging, how she feels about hate and criticism, why she found herself outside the circle of Tajik influencers, and what her own views cost her.
