Tunisia plans to strengthen its production of biological medicines through a partnership with the Chinese group Lunan Pharmaceutical Group, as part of a cooperation currently being explored with the Tunisian Society of Pharmaceutical Industries (SIPHAT).
This orientation was at the center of a working session held on Wednesday April 29, 2026 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health, Doctor Mustapha Ferjani, in the presence of executives from the department, representatives of SIPHAT and a delegation from the Chinese pharmaceutical group.
The discussions focused mainly on the possibilities of developing in Tunisia the manufacturing of drugs with high therapeutic value, in particular biological drugs. Both sides examined opportunities for technology transfer, strengthening national skills and improving local production capacities.
The discussions also addressed other areas of cooperation, notably the development of scientifically based food supplements, part of a preventive approach aimed at improving the quality of health care.
On this occasion, the Minister of Health stressed that strengthening pharmaceutical safety relies on concrete partnerships, as well as investment in knowledge and technology, in order to improve the availability of medicines and serve the interest of the patient.
