After long weeks documenting each success story of the campaign Peruvians who Addfinally in the month of November the voting on the initiative of Commerce and the BCP, which in its third edition seeks to recognize those who are changing their communities from day to day.
This required a tour of almost two months through more than 20 regions of the country in which this medium took the time to collect each testimony of success and improvement. The journalistic team selected nine finalists from a record number of applicants, and now it will be the public who decides with their vote which story deserves to be the winner.
Regarding the closing of voting for the campaign Peruvians who Addwe remember Rodolfo Ortiz, the Cajamarcan inventor who created a water purifier to benefit rural populations.
At the end of the eighties, little Rodolfo Ortiz would run out of school so as not to miss an episode of “A Window into the Future”, an Australian program that showed what would be the revolutionary inventions that would arrive with the new century. Seeing it, he created, for example, a scale magnetic levitation train. A technology that until then only operated experimentally in the United Kingdom. And although this was a sample of his talent, few imagined that over time that curious student would become a prolific inventor willing to transform the world.
“As soon as I left school I studied a technical degree in electronics at a local institute. My skills led me to eventually be hired by that same institute as part of its technical team.. Then I studied Business Administration, I have a master’s degree in Management and studies at the Catholic University (PUCP) and George Washington University,” Rodolfo summarizes.
As part of the Peruanos que Suman campaign of El Comercio and the BCP we arrived in Cajamarca to meet the mind behind a novel multiple mechanical ventilator that served to face the health emergency unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic or a system capable of making the water that reaches the rural communities in its region drinkable.
