He said this in a statement to RTV Podgorica, commenting on the Democratic People’s Party’s support for Milan Knežević’s election of the leader of the Reversal Movement, Srđan Perić, as head of the Podgorica parliament.
“For any candidate for the President of the Capital City Assembly, 20 councilors’ signatures or a third of the councilors are required. In this case, Mr. Perić has only two councilors, which means that 18 more councilors are needed. There is so much opposition without DPS, which means that we can only declare Perić as a DPS candidate,” explained Paunović.
He pointed out that the Democrats are ready to return to talks with partners from the Podgorica government and representatives of the Democratic People’s Party.
“We are absolutely ready at any time of the day to return to the negotiating table and for the result of those negotiations to be that the coalition for the future of Podgorica nominates a candidate, at least from the Democratic People’s Party, but that this means the continuation of the functioning of the city administration headed by Mayor Saša Mujović,” said Paunović.
