With Cristiano Ronaldo “answering” his critics with two goals (6′, 39′) which led him to another unrepeatable record – as he has scored in all 6 World Cups he participated in – Portugal thrashed Uzbekistan to an emphatic 5-0 at NRG Stadion in Houston in Matchday 2 of FIFA World Cup 2026 Group 11.
The Iberians “cleaned up” the match before it reached the 20th minute, with CR7’s goal in the 6th minute (terrible finish from Cancelo’s cross) and Mendes’ direct foul in the 17th minute. In the 39th minute, Ronaldo made it 3-0 with an assist from Bruno Fernandes, to be followed by two more Portuguese goals with Nematov’s own goal (60th minute) and Leao’s “shell” (87th minute).
Ronaldo “looked” for the hat trick in the second half, but goalkeeper Nematov denied him the third goal in the 58′ and 74′, in a “relaxed” night for the Portuguese.
