Panama celebrated a new gold medal at the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026after Edwin Núñez became champion in the category of surf bodyboard.
Núñez had an outstanding performance in the grand final and defeated the Chilean Moisés Silva by 10.33 to 4.50a result that allowed him to climb to the top of the podium and add another gold medal for the Panamanian delegation.
The triumph represents a new achievement for national bodyboarding and adds to Panama’s harvest in this edition of the South American Games, which brings together athletes from different countries in the region.
With the gold obtained by Núñez, Panama reaches four gold medals in Santa Fe 2026. This figure equals the highest number of golds obtained by the country in a single edition of the South American Games, a record previously achieved in Valencia 1994 and Santiago 2014.
