Naalakkersuisoq for fisheries, Peter Borg (D), states that the fishing quotas allocated to SiKu Trawl A/S will not be withdrawn. Thus, the wish of the three companies, which are dissatisfied with Naalakkersuisut’s decision, will not be fulfilled.
Naalakkersuisut will not return the fishing quotas off West Greenland which they have assigned to SiKu Trawl A/S. This is what naalakkersuisoq for fisheries, Peter Borg (D), writes in a written reply to Sermitsiaq.
– The tender will not be cancelled, as it meets the requirements of the tender material and the Fisheries Act, writes naalakkersuisoq.
Sermitsiaq has requested an interview, but naalakkersuisoq has wanted to respond in writing. After receiving the answer, the editors have several questions for naalakkersuisoq, and the editors have maintained the request to interview. However, the editors have not received a response to this when this article was written.
Sermitsiaq described last Wednesday how three companies are dissatisfied with Naalakkersuisut’s decision in the tender, which contained quotas of 2,468.5 tonnes of halibut, 1,950 tonnes of cod and 166.6 tonnes of halibut.
The dissatisfied companies are Halibut Greenland ApS, Inua Fisheries Greenland ApS and Avalleq ApS, and they therefore lost the battle for the lucrative quotas.
Critics: The requirements are not the basis for the decision
The three companies believe that Naalakkersuisut has appointed the recipients of the quotas without complying with the requirements of the tender. Therefore, they want the quotas to be returned from SiKu Trawl A/S, after which a new tender must be carried out.
Halibut Greenland ApS, which runs a fish factory in Ilulissat, writes, among other things, the following in its criticism:
– During their processing of the applications, Naalakkersuisut has placed particular emphasis on choosing a company that will strengthen fishing and business development in a region where there is a great need for this.
– This means that Naalakkersuisut has made a decision without regard to the 11 requirements and conditions that the Department has demanded in connection with the tender, write the company’s director Erik Sivertsen and board chairman Kaaleeraq Mathæussen in a press release.
Naalakkersuisoq writes that he has decided not to comment on the harsh criticism towards Sermitsiaq.
– The department responds to the two companies’ inquiries in writing directly to the companies, writes naalakkersuisoq.
According to naalakkersuisoq’s letter to Sermitsiaq, SiKu Trawl A/S, which was allocated the quotas after the tender, has already started fishing on the allocated quotas.
