The Myanmar U17 national team has arrived in Indonesia to compete in the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship and has begun training sessions.
The tournament will be held from 11 to 24 April in Greater Surabaya, East Java, with all 12 member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation taking part. According to the group draw, Myanmar are placed in Group B alongside Thailand, Laos and the Philippines.
Myanmar will play their group matches against Laos on 12 April, Thailand on 15 April and the Philippines on 18 April. The top team from each group and the best runner-up will advance to the semifinals.
The Myanmar U17 team is coached by U Kyaw Zeya, and the tournament also serves as preparation for the AFC U17 Asian Cup to be held in May.
The team has been in training camp since late last year and played two friendly matches against India U17 on 3 and 5 March, drawing one and losing one. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
