Authorities arrested 43 foreign nationals illegally residing in Myanmar near Wammai Village, Kali, Kunhing Township, yesterday.
A joint task force conducted a search following reports of illegal entrants at the jetty of the Thanlwin River and detained the individuals early in the morning.
Preliminary statements indicate they had been involved in illegal online gambling activities and were attempting to return to China when apprehended.
The government continues coordinated efforts with relevant agencies and neighbouring countries to combat online fraud and illegal gambling, and will take action in accordance with the law while repatriating foreign nationals as appropriate. — MNA/KZL
