According to data from the Department of Statistics, women receive a salary 20% lower than that received by men in 2025. That the average salary for men was 2,948 euros per month and that of women, 2,384. I have already explained many times that the average salary does not mean much to me; on the other hand, the median salary does tell me. I think there are many people who would like to collect these average wages. They also tell us that the median salary in February is 2,166 euros per month. I also think that there are many people who would like to earn this median salary, even though it seems more correct to me. In any case, I think that this wage gap does not correspond entirely to reality, since the data is too generic, however much they also identify it by sector. We find, for example, the financial sector, where men earn 6,869 euros per month and women, 4,007. But it is worth saying that there is a lower female presence in positions of responsibility. We also find a lot of difference right now in the construction sector, in which the majority presence is of men. Along with all the sectors surrounding construction, such as carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, painters…, in which the vast majority are men. On the other hand, we find the cleaning sector, in which practically all are women, and here the gap certainly changes, since the wages are usually very low. As with the secretarial sector, in which the majority are also women and the wages are not usually very high either… I would be more interested to know: with the same job, same responsibility, same hours, same conditions… what is the wage gap?
