The director of the National Audiovisual Centre (CNA), Gilles Zeimet, has resigned. Minister for Culture Eric Thill said he received the information around midday and accepted the resignation.
Minister retracts earlier statement
Minister Thill has also retracted a statement he made during an interview with RTL Radio on 11 April. In that interview, he had claimed that critical thresholds for humidity and temperature at the exhibition The Family of Man in Clervaux had been exceeded for mere “minutes” in early summer 2025. The minister characterised the remark as a “mistake”, saying he had gotten a detail wrong.
However, investigations by RTL have shown that thresholds were exceeded over extended periods in various rooms of the exhibition.
Gilles Zeimet has commented on his resignation as Director of the CNA in a written statement. He explained that in recent weeks, public attention was too focused on him as a person, and that he did not want to burden the institution any further with his resignation.
Gilles Zeimet’s statement was added to the article at 6pm.
