At Mercedes, they understand that customers are tired of relying entirely on touchscreens.
Although large displays remain an important part of future models, the German manufacturer has announced the return of physical buttons and classic controls.
The company states that during the research, users clearly said that they like large screens, but that they want direct access to key functions via real buttons.
Because of this, future Mercedes models will once again receive more physical controls, including classic wheels on the steering wheel instead of “touch” controls.
Mercedes points out that they received customer feedback two years ago and that’s when they started to change their approach to interior design.
However, big screens will not disappear. The company believes that they enable greater personalization and more advanced software functions, modeled on modern smartphones, reports B92.
The trend of the return of physical controls is becoming more pronounced in the auto industry, as many drivers consider classic switches to be more practical and safer while driving than controlling all functions via the screen.
