“I define myself, firstly as an interior designer and then as an architectbecause that was the path of my studies. I did Interior Design in La Plata, at what is now called Universidad del Este, where I also taught for eight years. After a year of working in that field, I realized how linked it is to the work, so I decided to pursue a degree in Architecture,” he tells us. Marianela Guzmán Vercellesiauthor of the project “It was Carlota” in Living Experience 2026 for Group (a)2which includes a showroom and exhibition area, with sales and personalized advice; an acoustically conditioned meeting room with special paneling, and a more private management room, intended for meetings and wholesale sales.
“I always tell my students that interior design is more than choosing colors or aesthetic combinations. It is true interior architecture that seeks comfort, that creates sensations and emotions also through circulation, installations, materiality, lighting and structure.”
“At 18, to pay for my studies, I worked in the marketing area of McDonald’s. Even though it is not strictly part of the field, I found it formative: it is a multinational brand that organizes and structures you professionally“, says Mariela, and it is clear that this experience was, in fact, the beginning of something that developed organically. “I had and – I really liked – working in commercial premises, and I dedicate myself, above all, to spaces of coworking and offices. I love everything that has to do with the corporate world.. Designing comfortable workplaces significantly improves results, it is proven.”
After having studied two degrees, doing renovations, teaching, having a decorative establishment and putting a lot of focus on commercial architecture, another stage in Marianela’s life began seven years ago. “Pregnant with Baltasar (6), I started designing prints as an alternative, because I thought I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the rhythm of the work with my belly.. (Obviously, I worked until the last moment, both on that pregnancy and on Olivia’s, who is eleven months old today.) I started with scarves, then clothing, sportswear and also deco textiles, such as shower curtains, paintings and murals. This is how my brand was born It was Charlottewith a showroom in La Plata, where I live, and its online store, which encouraged me to also make personalized designs for brands and special productions, even for the European Union.”
“I am a person, then a woman, a mother, and then a professional. I love that my children accompany me to work, to my jobs, that they see me active and in contact with creativity.. It seems to me that they also have that in their blood, and there is nothing more beautiful than showing them that you can pursue what you really love to do,” he says with conviction.
“Thanks to the prints and my connection with Grupo a(2), suppliers and also friends, the possibility arose of participating in Experience Living with a workspace, and I decided to present the Era Carlota showroom as an integral space,” shares Marianela. “I arrived with great enthusiasm and many expectations. Living Experience always seemed to me to be a sample of the highest level not only in terms of decoration, but also in terms of interior design in its deepest sense, that of interior architecture.. The trends, the attention to detail, the excellence in the finishes and the correct application of the materials are aspects that are especially interesting to me and that the different exhibitors work with great quality,” he says about his participation in the expo.
“This project was built from my role as an architect and interior designer and, also, from my place as the owner of my own brand.. The space reflects this fusion between both facets and was developed in conjunction with Group (a)2which provides excellence in furniture and equipment for offices and workplaces,” he explains.
“As professionals, we have to adapt to the budget and available resources of our clients, and understand that, just because they are limited, the project cannot be carried out. That is, for me, the real challenge of design.”
“My mother was left alone with my sister and me when we were 1 and 3 years old, and my grandparents helped her a lot. My childhood memories are particularly linked to my grandfatherwho would pick me up from school in winter with hot chocolate milk in a thermos, or would spend time with me until he took me to skate or English. “He was a figure that marked me deeply.”
“The hummingbird represents me every time I remember my grandfather, or feel that I need him. It happened to me especially shortly after he had died.”
“Every season I make new prints. This time, I was inspired by the regions of Argentina. The mural that dominates the space is called “Cuyo”, and it arises, precisely, from one of those collections.”
“I am committed to a simple, sensitive and accessible design for the client, without neglecting attention to detail or the possibilities offered by trends.”
