SHOCKED BY WARRIOR RHETORIC
Ludvig Hammeken spent a whole night in front of the American embassy because he is indignant about the American president’s statements.
The night of Thursday a kind of silent demonstration took place in front of the American embassy in Copenhagen. It was Ludvig Hammeken, who stood with Erfalasorput in his hand outside all night.
– In my head I needed to do something. To say the least, I am completely sick of this unwanted pressure and overtures from Trump. So when I got home from work on Wednesday night and just read the latest news, I just couldn’t be in my body.
– Then I got that idea and thought, it’s some form of manifestation anyway.
Ludvig Hammeken grew up in Uummannaq and now lives in Denmark. He says that he didn’t do it for others, but for his own.
– I am indignant on a higher level. It shakes me to my core that between two close allies you have this rhetoric, which is so warlike. It shakes me violently, he says.
Ludvig Hammeken’s quiet demonstration came after several statements from US President Donald Trump and his staff that the US needs Greenland for the country’s security.
Most recently, Trump has said, that a military presence in Greenland is not enoughas ownership is a psychological need.
