Libya’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Agency has dismantled an organized cross-border criminal network accused of targeting customers of Libyan banks through sophisticated online fraud schemes.
Investigators said the group exploited electronic financial systems and multiple digital platforms to deceive victims, while laundering nearly LYD 10 million through various financial and digital channels to conceal the origin of the funds.
The main suspect has been arrested and referred to the Public Order Prosecution. Authorities also identified a key accomplice, an Egyptian national allegedly responsible for creating and managing fake online pages, and traced the network’s international connections to France, Germany, and Dubai.
