Libyan Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Abdul Hamid Dbeibah met on Sunday with Egypt’s General Intelligence Chief, Major General Hassan Rashad, to discuss prospects for enhancing cooperation and coordination between Libya and Egypt. The meeting was attended by the accompanying Egyptian delegation.
Rashad conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Dbeibah, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with Libya across various fields in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries.
Dbeibah asked the Egyptian intelligence chief to convey his greetings and appreciation to El-Sisi, praising the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two peoples and nations.
The talks also addressed ways to expand bilateral cooperation to support development efforts and strengthen partnership on a number of issues of mutual interest.
The two sides further reviewed the latest political developments in Libya, stressing the importance of continued consultation and coordination to support security and stability, preserve the country’s unity and sovereignty, and advance efforts to unify national institutions and consolidate a peaceful political process.
