Law No. 164 of 2024 specified the issuance of a law Asylum Foreigners, formation of the Permanent Committee for Refugee Affairs.
Article 3 of the law specifies the formation of that committee, stipulating that the competent committee shall be formed from representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Interior and Finance, and the term of membership shall be four years.
A decision shall be issued by the Prime Minister within three months from the effective date of this law, and the competent committee shall be represented by its chairman before the judiciary and in its relations with others.
The Prime Minister may include representatives of the relevant ministries and authorities in the membership of the relevant committee. The competent committee may also invite to its meetings whomever it deems necessary to seek assistance from experts and specialists in its field of work.
The competent committee prepares a report on the results of its work every three months, which its chairman presents to the Prime Minister.
Article 4 stipulates that the competent committee shall have a technical secretariat, whose powers, its working system, the appointment of its chairman, his term, his financial treatment, and his powers shall be determined by a decision from the Prime Minister. The head of the technical secretariat shall be assisted in performing the tasks entrusted to him by a sufficient number of employees delegated to the competent committee from the administrative authorities.
