Mushfiqur Rahman, President of the Finance Ministry-related Parliamentary Standing Committee and Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-4 (Kasba-Akhaura) Constituency, said that the existing law against drug dealers will be amended and made more stringent.
He said this after inaugurating the science laboratory set up with the funding of Rahman Foundation at Bayek Shiksha Sadan High School of Kasba Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Mushfiqur Rahman said that although drug dealers are arrested, in many cases they come out on bail quickly. The issue has been discussed in Parliament. The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that measures will be taken to amend the anti-narcotics law so that drug dealers are severely punished and removed from this path.
He said that just as there is strict punishment for crimes like rape of women and children, there are initiatives to take strict legal measures against drugs.
The member of parliament warned the drug dealers in the area and said, stop the drug trade now. Young society is being destroyed due to drugs. Everyone should come forward to prevent the spread of drugs for the sake of children’s future and society.

Chairman of Rahman Foundation Mehbeen Rahman Munia, Ashfaq Jamil Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kasba Police Station Nazneen Sultana, District BNP Vice President Muhammad Ilyas, Joint General Secretary Engineer Nazmul Huda Khandkar and representatives of local political, social and educational sectors were present as special guests under the chairmanship of Chamiul Islam.
