The municipality of Kujalleq has still does not have the necessary overview of its finances and lacks well-functioning financial management.
The municipality’s own administration wrote that in the presentation of the case for the municipal council meeting on 30 September.
The announcement came after a critical audit report on the municipality’s accounts for 2025.
– In connection with the audit of the accounts for 2025, it has been established that the municipality has still not been able to establish financial management with continuous follow-up of consumption in relation to grants, wrote the auditors from BDO.
According to BDO, additional grants were neither sought nor granted for an additional expenditure on operations of 36.8 million in 2025. The auditor concludes that the rules on grants were thus not complied with.
The year nevertheless ended with a profit close to the budgeted DKK 15 million. But this was due to other fluctuations:
– The only reason why it doesn’t end completely wrong in 2025 is that 19.9 million DKK has been received. DKK more in grants than was budgeted and DKK 16.6 million has been spent. DKK less on plant than budgeted, writes BDO.
The auditors repeat 19 previous audit observations that were not closed when the 2025 accounts were reviewed. It is also about financial management, internal controls, errors in bookkeeping and accounting.
Kommune Kujalleq’s administration disputes several of the auditors’ remarks, among other things about the necessity of further savings and the role of external consultants.
Perhaps most startlingly, the South Greenlandic administration agrees with the audit’s assessment that in 2025 there has been an increased focus on correct bookkeeping.
– This focus and more reliable basis for assessing the municipality’s finances has not been ascertained by the administration, it appears in the presentation of the case.
The municipal board adopted the accounts on 30 September.
