PARAMARIBO — The Suriname Police Force (KPS) made 174 arrests nationwide in March, with 109 suspects taken into custody. This mainly concerns suspects of violent and property crimes.
The figures presented show that one deprivation of life was registered during this period, as well as twelve armed robberies and 34 robberies without the use of a firearm. In addition, 130 burglaries were reported and two driving licenses were confiscated. The police also noted ten suicide cases and two traffic fatalities.
Most robberies and robberies occurred in the Paramaribo region. The majority of burglaries were also registered in the Paramaribo and Central regions.
“Despite limited resources and challenges, police personnel remain committed to security in the country. According to the KPS, the results achieved are partly due to the efforts of police employees, as well as the support from society and the intelligence services,” the police say on their website.
The KPS emphasizes that it will continue to work for the safety of all citizens and calls on the community to continue reporting suspicious situations, so that we can work together towards a safer Suriname.
