According to statements made to the press by the head of the Cusco Police Region, Virgilio Velásquez, the agent had tried to jump from the fifth floor to a building that was next to the police station. “Unfortunately, he did not achieve his goal and slipped, falling into the police station courtyard,” he said.
After the accident, Chirinos was taken to the city hospital, where the doctors on duty certified his death.
The police chief explained that the non-commissioned officer was taken to the police station following a request for help after an altercation with two women at a nightclub in Cusco. “Supposedly he would be having fun in the company of two women and where there would have been a fight with them. The deceased would have been attacked and requested support from the PNP,” he said.

Along these lines, Velásquez assured that, possibly, Chirinos had tried to flee for fear of the sanctions he could face. “I assume that this police officer has tried to ‘get safe’, so to speak, to avoid this responsibility if there was one,” he asserted.
For its part, the Public Ministry, through the Second Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Cusco, represented by Divaly Cruz Borda, has begun preliminary investigations to determine the causes of the incident.
Meanwhile, Criminalistics experts arrived at the establishment to collect information and identify the scene of the incident.
