Kosovo awaiting EU candidacy, Kurti: We will learn from Albania and Montenegro, they are ahead of us

Since 2022, when Kosovo applied for membership in the European Union, its file has not moved at all.
While the country will have to wait for the EU to deal with this application, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti mentioned “concrete steps” that Kosovo is taking and said that it will learn from the two neighboring states that are moving forward on their integration paths.
“In the meantime, while we await the European Union’s decision, we are taking concrete steps to ensure that no time is wasted on our part. We will work closely with Albania and Montenegro to learn from their experience, as they are ahead of us in this process”. First, we will start preparing our responses to the thousands of pages of the Questionnaire and will prepare them with the screening process in mind. Second, we will also prepare for the establishment of inter-institutional negotiating structures, in order to save years of preparation”.
Then, Kurti made a pledge.
“The EU’s promise is enlargement. Our promise is reforms. We can and must deliver on both. This is a shared responsibility.”
