KCNA | Article | Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of C.C., CPC and President of PRC, Arrives in Pyongyang to Pay State Visit to DPRK

Pyongyang, June 9 (KCNA) — The historic Pyongyang meeting between the top leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China was arranged again at a time when the traditional DPRK-China friendship, forged in the long journey for independence against imperialism, peace and the accomplishment of the socialist cause, weathering all hard-ships of the times, is being developed at a new strategic level.

Comrade Xi Jinping’s visit to the DPRK in the significant year marking the 65th anniversary of the conclusion of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance serves as the important and meaningful one in developing the DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations, the strategic option and valuable common asset of the two parties and the peoples of the two countries.

The national flags of the two countries were fluttering at the flagstaffs.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju came to Pyongyang International Airport to greet Comrade Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

Present at the airport were Wang Yajun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and his embassy officials.

Comrade Xi Jinping’s private plane landed at the airport at noon on Monday.

Comrade Kim Jong Un had an impressive meeting with Comrade Xi Jinping.

Comrade Kim Jong Un shook hands with Comrade Xi Jinping, expressing his pleasure over their reunion in Pyongyang nine months after the significant meeting in Beijing last September.

Comrade Xi Jinping expressed his deep thanks to Comrade Kim Jong Un for warmly welcoming him, while giving his impressions of revisit to Pyongyang in seven years.

Accompanying him were Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee and minister of Foreign Affairs, Liu Haixing, head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Tang Fangyu, director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, Dong Jun, minister of National Defence of the PRC, Zheng Shanjie, head of the National Development and Reform Committee of the PRC, Wang Wentao, minister of Commerce of the PRC, and other entourage members.

Lovely children presented bunches of flowers to Comrade Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

Comrade Xi Jinping’s private car left the airport, escorted by motorcycles.

In Sunan District and along streets including Rimhung and Saeppyol streets, Pyongyang citizens warmly welcomed Comrade Xi Jinping who has come with warm feelings of friendship of the fraternal Chinese people towards the DPRK people.

Citizens gave a welcome with the warm feelings of friendship and solidarity deeply rooted in the hearts of the peoples of the two countries and firmly based on the comradely relationship. -0-
