The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, met on Wednesday afternoon at the Palace of Carthage with the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh and the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Fethi Zouhair Nouri.
During this meeting, the two officials presented to the Head of State a presentation of their participation in the work of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB), reports a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
During this interview, the Head of State reaffirmed that Tunisia, relying on its own national choices and the policy of relying on oneself, has managed to record convincing results, including, in particular, the control of inflation and the improvement of growth indicators.
President Saïed, however, emphasized the need to work to translate these macroeconomic performances into the daily lives of Tunisian citizens, in particular, during the exercise of fundamental rights to health, transport, education and social protection.
While reaffirming his unwavering commitment to respect for national sovereignty, the Head of State recalled that Tunisia would never submit to any “diktat” or “any external pressure”, calling for the voice of our country to be raised loudly and clearly during the various conferences and international events.
In this regard, he castigated Tunisia’s detractors who still bet on the failure of state policies, hailing the “cohesion” and the “high consciousness” demonstrated by the Tunisian people, which allowed them to thwart their suspicious attempts and projects.
When it comes to making the best interests of the homeland prevail over all other considerations, the Tunisian people have always been there to respond to the allegations of “skeptics” and demonstrate that they are capable of achieving “the impossible”, said the Head of State.
On the sidelines of this meeting, the governor of the BCT presented to the President of the Republic the financial statements of this institution for the 2025 financial year as well as the report of the auditors, we read from the same source.
