Air mail for blood samples, hybrid rooms where different medical professions can be combined in the same procedure, a unique operating block, central sterilization within easy reach of the operating theaters and departments that will no longer be scattered around the old pavilions – this is what the new KBC Osijek should look like.
The project, worth about 850 million euros, should introduce the largest hospital in eastern Croatia from a system that adapted to old buildings for decades to a completely different model of treatment: a hospital in one complex, with shorter routes, faster procedures and space, equipment and people organized around the patient. If it is realized according to the current plan, it will be the largest and most expensive public project in the modern history of Croatia.
