At least 12 people have been killed and nine injured in a mass shooting in Johannesburg, South African police said.
According to the police statement, more than ten armed attackers were driven in a white Toyota Quantum van to a gas station near the settlement. The attackers then entered the settlement and randomly shot at residents in several locations, it says BBC.
After the attack, they fled in the same vehicle. The police launched an extensive search for the suspects.
For now, the motive of the attack and the identity of the perpetrator are not known.
