Second open process: Threats to communicators
In parallel, Madera García faces another judicial process. The judge of the Sixth Investigative Court of the National District, Yanibet Rivas, postponed until next week the preliminary trial in which she is accused of once again usurping the identity of Karla Fitchthis time to threaten journalists from the newspaper El Nuevo Diario.
The hearing was postponed in order for the accused to appear with her technical defense. Given this, lawyer Jean Christopher Pérez, legal representative of the affected communicators, Jaime Rodríguez Rincón and Julio Samuel Sierra, expressed his deep concern about the defendant’s delaying tactics.
“The process has entered a phase of stagnation due to the chain of ‘reckless incidents’ and medical licenses consecutive presentations by his technical defense,” stated the lawyer Pérez, denouncing the constant postponements of the case.
According to the investigations presented by the Public Ministry and accepted by the court that sentenced her, the events date back to 2022.
Madera García created a group of WhatsApp pretending to be a mother from the Mundo Creativo Montessori School. Initially, he tried to get the attention of the school community by complaining about an alleged infestation of lice among students.
By not getting the expected reaction, the accused escalated the situation in an alarming manner, threatening kidnapping under a false identity; He warned the parents that he would kidnap the children if they did not pay him sums of up to RD$100,000 pesos.
To receive the extortion money, Madera used the identity card of Mrs. Karla Fitch, making her appear to the group as the person who collected the blackmail funds.
