Yesterday, United Nations investigators accused the Zionist entity of deliberately targeting Palestinian children, considering that this has become a major factor in the ongoing “genocide” in the Gaza Strip. The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry concerned with the occupied Palestinian territories stated in a report issued yesterday that the occupation authorities and Zionist forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children in crimes against humanity in Gaza and the West Bank.
The UN report also considered that “the deliberate targeting of children is one of the main elements that prove the genocidal intent of the occupation authorities and security forces, with the aim of destroying the Palestinian group, in whole or in part, in Gaza.”
The three-person investigation committee, which does not speak on behalf of the international organization, concluded in September 2025 that the Zionist occupation committed “genocide” in Gaza during the war that broke out in October 2023.
Committee Chairman Srinivasan Muralidhar said that the evidence “shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by Zionist forces,” adding, “Even after the ceasefire in October 2025, children are still being killed and seriously injured, as the Zionist entity continues to ignore the ceasefire and the protection guaranteed to Palestinian children under international law.”
The report stated that violations against Palestinian children have escalated since the outbreak of the last war in October 2023, and stated that children constituted about 30 percent of the total deaths in Gaza during the period between 2023 and 2025, meaning no less than 20,179 children, compared to lower percentages in previous wars in the Strip.
The committee added that the use of weapons with wide-area effects in densely populated areas, despite the high number of child victims, indicates that the attacks were deliberate and contributed to the targeting of civilians en masse.
The report also concluded that what is happening falls within a broader pattern aimed at weakening Palestinian society and undermining its ability to survive, through killing, repeated displacement, and the deterioration of the health, nutritional, and psychological conditions of children in Gaza.
In the West Bank, the committee documented the escalation of settler violence against Palestinian children, in addition to cases of torture and ill-treatment during arrest operations, which included beatings, deprivation of food, and degrading treatment, considering that these violations amount to crimes against humanity.
The warnings issued by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) a few days ago confirm the committee’s accusations, as it confirmed that the children of the Gaza Strip are still paying the highest price of the conflict, amid a severe shortage of basic services and the continued dangers that threaten their lives on a daily basis.
The organization also said that the ceasefire in Gaza has turned into a “cruel and deadly illusion” for children who continue to pay the highest price for the situation in the Strip, where 265 Palestinian children have been killed since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025.
For his part, James Elder, spokesman for UNICEF, confirmed that during this period, which was supposed to be characterized by restraint and protection, an average of one child was killed every day, for more than eight months, describing that number as “absurd and horrific.”
Regarding the continuous advance of the occupation forces, Elder stressed that if a person sneezes near the orange line, he may be exposed to gunfire, adding that there is no hospital operating at full capacity in Gaza yet, while obtaining water is still difficult for 1.1 million children, stressing that the scale of human suffering imposed on Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip is almost incomparable in our current era.
Elder pointed out that “the children were not killed in a war zone, but rather they were killed in their homes, in their schools, and while playing football, where they were exposed to gunfire, bombing, and drone attacks,” adding that while the world continues to talk about a ceasefire, families in Gaza continue to bury their sons and daughters, pointing out that these child deaths are part of a toll that includes the killing of nearly a thousand Palestinians and the injury of 3,100 others in Gaza since the start of the ceasefire, according to To health authorities in the sector.
