This ultra-lightweight model could become a permanent member of Apple’s smartphone lineup.
Apple could be making a successor to the iPhone Air model, the ultra-light smartphone that was introduced last fall. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, plans are underway for the company to launch a second version of this device in the spring of 2027.
Sources say that the potential new product could get a second rear camera, better battery life and a version of the A20 Pro processor.
These rumors suggest that Apple may have bigger ambitions for this ultra-light format and wants it to become a more permanent part of their mobile lineup, reports B92.
The idea of a spring iPhone Air 2 launch confirms that Apple is rethinking its product launch calendar. Previously, all smartphone announcements came in the fall.
However, in the last 12 months, the company focused on its more expensive models in September, while it moved the presentation of the more affordable iPhone 17e model to the spring.
Since several of Apple’s attempts with smaller smartphones have been abandoned (iPhone mini and iPhone SE), it is possible that the new strategy involves an attempt to offer compactness from a different angle.
