The censure motion announced by P.S.D in collaboration with GOLD violates the commitment he made Sorin Grindeanu a month ago, at the meeting with the Party of European Socialists (PES).
On March 26, after a meeting in Brussels between Sorin Grindeanu and PES leaders Giacomo Filibeck (general secretary) and Yonnec Polet (deputy general secretary), the European Socialists sent P.S.D that they reject “categorically any alliance with the extreme right”.
“With the PSD’s crucial internal consultations set for April 20 to determine the future of the governing coalition, the mandate remains clear: Romania must have a stable, pro-European trajectory,” PES said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“Together, PES and PSD categorically reject any alliance with extreme rightcommitting instead to a stable, pro-European government that rigorously supports these democratic principles”, the PES statement also states.
President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsolasaid in a post on X that he “emphasized” to PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu, with whom he met on Thursday in Brussels, “the need for stability and unity” in the efforts to “build a better Europe”.
“In my first meeting today with the President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, I highlighted the European Parliament’s work on inter-parliamentary cooperation and stressed the need for stability and unity as we build a better Europe, closer to the people and which provides answers to the challenges we face,” Metsola wrote on March 26.

PSD – AUR alliance
PSD and AUR announced on Monday, April 27, that they will jointly file a no-confidence motion against the government led by Ilia Bolojan.
Marian Neacșu and Petrișor Peiu conveyed that the document will be drafted jointly and that they count on sufficient parliamentary support for the adoption of the motion.
“Following several rounds of discussions between the leaderships of our parties, it was decided that Mr. Petrișor Peiu and I would take care of the technical part of a joint censure motion. That is why we are here today. The work we will take care of is exclusively technical.
The political approach will probably be explained during this day by the presidents of the parties. As you know, we have convened a national permanent office at 2:00 p.m. where the final decision will be made. (…) We are jointly writing a no-confidence motion, we hope it will pass. We have a plan”, said Marian Neacșu.
He stated that he is following consultations with Nicușor Dan, in order to identify a political solution after the eventual vote in Parliament.
