His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met yesterday with His Excellency President Donald Trump, President of the friendly United States of America, on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in the French city of Evian-les-Bains.
His Highness the Emir stressed the strength of the strategic relations between Qatar and the United States, pointing to the great trade partnership since the US President’s visit to Qatar last year. He also stressed that the State of Qatar has major investments in the United States, in addition to American investments in Qatar, expressing his satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries.
His Highness also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the American President at this crucial stage in the Middle East, reiterating the two countries’ commitment to supporting regional peace and stability, welcoming the agreement between the United States and Iran, and affirming Qatar’s support for the efforts aimed at a permanent agreement that enhances security and stability in the region.
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his hope that the upcoming negotiations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will witness more constructive dialogue and cooperation in a way that supports regional and international security and stability through peaceful and diplomatic solutions. His Highness pointed out that he discussed with His Excellency President Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, during their meeting today in the French city of Evian, ways to develop strategic cooperation and enhance joint coordination regarding developments in regional situations.
His Highness the Emir said, in a post on his official account on the “X” platform: “I discussed with His Excellency President Donald Trump, during our meeting today in Evian, ways to develop our strategic cooperation and enhance joint coordination regarding developments in regional situations. I value the agreement on the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing my appreciation to His Excellency, to the brothers in Pakistan, and to all partners supporting the achievement of this agreement, hoping that the upcoming negotiations will witness more constructive dialogue and cooperation in a way that supports regional and international security and stability through peaceful and diplomatic solutions.
At the beginning of the meeting, the American President expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Emir, praising the friendly relations and appreciation enjoyed by His Highness, referring to the agreement between his country and Iran and its second phase, and praising Qatar’s role in managing the crisis.
Speaking about economic relations, he expressed his appreciation for the major Qatari investments in his country, pointing to the capabilities of the United States in industry, artificial intelligence, and the automobile industry, and the opportunities they provide to enhance economic cooperation. During the meeting, relations between the two countries were reviewed and regional and international developments were discussed, especially developments in the Middle East, and efforts aimed at enhancing stability, most notably the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring the flow of international trade.
The meeting also discussed the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran on outstanding issues, in addition to diplomatic efforts to address regional crises, and coordination between the two countries on issues of common interest, including energy security and economic cooperation.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Head of the Amiri Diwan, and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Emir.
On the American side, it was attended by His Excellency Mr. Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, His Excellency Mr. Scott Besant, Secretary of the Treasury, and a number of Their Excellencies, members of the official delegation accompanying His Excellency the President.
